😱 what a beautiful mansion. I did the self guided audio tour along. It was very informational and interesting. It took me about 2 hours to do the tour.
I got $2 discount for being a AAA member.
All staffs were courteous. They don’t allow selfie sticks inside breakers.

(I didn’t happen to have earbuds, so had to resort to reading the transcript, but glad the app had that!). Would give 5 stars if it wasn’t quite so pricey…. Probably better to buy those combo tickets others have mentioned, but we didn’t plan on seeing more than one of these mansions…. We did a weekday in June, and it was moderately busy but not overly crowded and a very nice experience…
I’ve visited at least a few mansions, and this really is a well-maintained example of opulence. (Like gold-leaf on huge wall areas applied by hand, such that it looks like leather? Yikes…. I’m still trying to understand why “more” = “better”, but anyway…. It truly is amazing.).
My favorite room wasn’t even a room at all, it was the covered porch/veranda… with that ocean view…. Crazy stunning!

The lady there told me it’s worth over $350 million now or more it no one really knows. They have a self guide tour with an app that you can listen to. Staff are nice and they have staff at pretty much in every room so you can ask questions. It’s a great reminder of how hollow the richest of the rich can be in their quest to validate themselves In the world. The tour audio guide app is great. The place has been preserved/restored magnificently. My only complaint is the cost of the entry ticket but I guess even the ghosts of the 0.01% have a high-cost of (not) living.By William Haun (6 months ago)An amazing example of what huge wealth can build. You need to download the app and then take the audio tour with your phone. It works really well, but bring some headphones. I saw multiple people doing the tour with both their heads leaning over a phone playing the tour from the phone speaker. After the house tour be sure to walk over to the cliff overlook. Beautiful place! My brother in law set up a family reunion for us at a lovely picnic area 25. You get 10 tables for your group and have all day to use the spot. It was so awesome we got there at 10 and stayed until sunset 🥰 the staff was very accommodating and came and checked on us a few times. Thanks for the memoriesBy Sue Laprise (7 months ago)We visited Colt State Park on 3/7/2022. It was the Independence Day eve and it was fully packed with people out in son for picnic and get together. A beautiful summer day in the park which is nicely located at ocean / water front – who doesn’t want to be there.
We also did a small family picnic outside at this place on a picnic table. There were ample green space areas out of some were camping pre booked site areas which were all full and park staff was present at those location entrance.
There were ample opportunity for biking and 7 y.o fully utilized this opportunity. He couldn’t find any beach 🏖 at the area where we walked, that was near to fishing pier. But the long side walk next to ocean for walking/biking 🚶♀️ provides a decent experience if you have a patience to sit and relax.

It has different moods to seek out, pathways to follow, shaded areas to tuck under, and all the sunlight you want.
A favorite gathering place for groups of friends or organizations celebrating.
I even conducted a couple outdoor weddings there years ago.
For a time 40 years ago I was blessed to live within walking distance.

What’s not to love about this State Park? It was free, ample parking spots for this in cars, lots to do with families, on dates, or solo. People were biking, walking, sitting in the sun. My husband & I chose to do the self guided tour for a price of $10 per person. The fort itself is interesting to explore! My only complaints are that the fort isn’t in the best condition so you aren’t able to enter most of the structure itself. I fully understand that the fort is older so it is aging, but it would have been nice to be able to see the inside of the structures from beyond the gated entry ways. It was the Tuesday before Memorial Day. We thought, “Let’s just check this place out. We have nothing to do.” I am ashamed now that I thought that. Every staff member was friendly, personable and helpful. The audio tour, although not fancy schmancy and professionally done, was clear and informative. The fort itself was amazing, but little did we know we would see them preparing for a Boots On The Ground ceremony. Watching the volunteers set up the boys and flags brought tears to my eyes. There are lots of beautiful boats in the marina area. There’s lots of fishermen too. There’s a lot of area to take photos of the boats and the bridge. I love walking near the water area. Long lines, lots of noise, crazy kids, no self guided tours allowed. Upside, food trucks on the property, USCG helo demonstration, the Oliver Hazard Perry docked out front and had to take a guided tour. The tourguide (Burt) was absolutely awesome. Two nights in the town, love the ocean side walk. The parking is free on one side of the road, facing the ocean, you can have a comfortable view by seating inside the car. Sunset attracted people to raise their cameras, and you could catch more amazing views even after the the sunset. It is absolutely beautiful and one of the best coastlines I’ve seen. The state park has plenty of parking and space that is clean and public restroom (port-a-potty but it does the job right?). The park rangers were there picking up trash. This time I only sat by the beach side as it was sunset. Otherwise I would have ventured back to the stables and tower because yes it is safe enough for a female to go by themselves. Large free parking lot. Restroom is well maintained. Among the activities, flying kites is the most popular when weather is good. I like this zoo so much. They have so many animals. The size is good for a family. The Roger Williams Park also huge, includes museum and a lake that you can play swan boat. Will definitely go back when weather is better. Highly recommend to go early like 9am then you can easy to find a parking spot.
What a fantastic zoo. We were very happy to see the large enclosures the animals had. The zoo is very large and very easy to make your way through the entire zoo. There are many benches along the way if you get tired to take a rest. They time event the tickets so the crowds were not overwhelming. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There is a good variety of animals. This was the nicest zoo I have ever visited. If you get tired of looking at animals they have a very fun zipline you can do for an added cost inside the zoo. There are carriages to rent for children and wheelchairs for those who need one. Parking was easy and ample. Very affordable prices would definitely recommend this for children and adults.
A very large zoo, as we ended up walking around for over two hours. It boasted a wide variety of animals, displays and a food court area that actually had good food. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the lots are close to the park entrance. It was beneficial to start in the back of the lot as I was able to snag one of the only spots left, for the lot closest to the entrance. We would definitely go back if in the area.
Amazing and well designed zoo! Free parking and big parking lot with tons of spaces. I saw so many animals today from elephants to red pandas! I loved seeing the red panda, that is probably one of my favorite animals I saw today.
A very fun, clean. and welcoming zoo all around. I have come here a few times and experienced a normal zoo day, as well as the October pumpkin carved event, and the Asian Lantern Spectacular. The lantern event was stunning. It’s fun being in the park at night, but the light displays were incredible to see. The size and scale of them all – and a few even moved! If you get the chance, highly recommend.
