Our visit to Semmelweis University Hospital in Budapest was far from pleasant. When my husband got sick during our trip, we had to go there for help. Unfortunately, the hospital experience was quite disappointing.

The hospital staff was not very friendly and could be quite rude. One nurse scolded me for sitting next to my husband, saying the seats were for patients only. This wasn’t a good start.

The service was incredibly slow. We waited for more than 8 hours before my husband got medical attention. Even getting test results took 5 long hours. Patients brought in by ambulance were left in hallways for a long time, which was concerning.

To make matters worse, they wouldn’t remove my husband’s IV until we paid the hospital bill. This added financial stress during a difficult time.

This hospital doesn’t even deserve one star. Overall, our experience at this hospital was disappointing and frustrating. If you have other options for medical care in Budapest, I recommend exploring them. Our visit was marked by unfriendly staff, slow service, and unexpected financial pressure. Avoid this hospital if you can.

After spending nearly 10 hrs in the hospital, we are very much disappointed.

The process of getting into emergency and getting assisted by doctors is so lengthy that most of the time we felt , why we came here. Staying at home might have done the cure.

The doctor was able to speak English in our case. But just for printing the test results and summarizing it , they took 3 hrs.

Had a horrible experience here, none of the receptions spoke English, even though I had a recommendation paper from the doctor in Hungarian they even refuse to look at it. I tried to use google translate, I just wanted to know if I was in the right building, they didn’t even look at , but just kept repeating I don’t know

Horrible service. It’s not an emergency room at all. Not attentive, very uncomfortable waiting seats, there is even no drinking water Available. I felt very bad for the old lady who was taken by an ambulance but not being taken care of. She was waiting and suffering like me for the whole 8hrs in a normal clinic chair seat. Never go to this hospital. Not worth of using TAJ card in this very backwards system. Total waiting time 8hrs and only did a blood pressure check up after 2hrs of waiting. I was waiting for the result to come out after 5hrs !! Terrible experience. Why can’t they just send the result via email. There was some cases that was not hygiene at all. Changing diapers of old people without taking then to a private room but expose them in front of all sick patients. They were even eating pizza on the spot where they treat the patients. Very unhygienic hospital. Not even a soap available by the toilet and no paper as well. How do they get a permit to even operate this hospital… They even take the intern on the emergency room and educate them in a very slow way when a lot of people needs attention in this room. Too much to say, this 8hrs was hell. I will never come back here ever.

On the morning of December 25th, I called the ambulance to my husband, who was in a very bad condition, in Újpest, they arrived within a few minutes, and then two more paramedics came to help. They provided my husband with such incredible expertise, but what is important to me was their huge HUMAN attitude, which cannot be expressed in words. I would also like to thank you very much for both your effort and your empathy. I was able to write down their registration numbers, MA-08-22 and MA-08-49. I hope my thanks reach them.

The health issue is amazing, they pick up the phone, relatively quickly, I have to say the same thing three times, why am I asking for help, my child is lying with stomach cramps, he is an adult, he asks everything, I tell the ambulance service, I live in Pest County, I talk to the administrator of Vas County, they promise to call me back , there is no on-call service from 19 o’clock, the local doctor doesn’t accept me, I’ve been paying taxes for 35 years, I’m not used to bragging about it, your whole family is in the law enforcement area, camaraderie, etc. they got fucked up from above……….god protect the Hungarian citizens!

    doubt doubt him

Dear Ambulance Service! I got stung by a bee today. I am allergic to everything in existence, 6 years ago I had an anaphylactic shock from a sore throat reliever, my life passed by a hair. Because of this, I was very scared when the bee stung me. I immediately called the ambulance, where an incredibly nice lady on the other side of the line took my information and then stayed on the line until the ambulance arrived, trying to calm me down in a very calm voice, but constantly asking about my symptoms. The ambulance arrived within 7 minutes. I can’t find words to describe how nice and professional they were! All tests were done. It turned out that, by some miracle, the bee sting did not cause a life-threatening condition for me, and apart from the fear, I only got a swelling. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the kindness, speed and, last but not least, the professional professionalism that I experienced today! Many thanks, respect and gratitude to you! You are the real heroes! ❤️

In general, and because of the inferior and patient-humiliating style and unacceptable behavior of the workers of the ambulance service at my place of residence, I am terribly upset! If you don’t have a shirt, DON’T wear it! It wasn’t the first time that the paramedic told the 92-year-old patient what else he wanted. This is an incurable disease, there is no cure for it! This is just 1-2 comments. Pathetic and saddening! Shame on those involved and those who are like that. I hope you and your family members will do the same or similar! I can only make a complaint with all kinds of authorizations and forms! In particular, no one cares how certain uneducated and inferior employees of the ambulance service behave on duty and in a self-righteous manner Anyone can be humiliated at any time! Shame on you!

I would like to thank the young ambulance officer and his colleague for their extremely empathetic help, who were sent from Ujpest to Visegrad to the hotel on the afternoon of January 26 in connection with my husband’s accident. The kindness and sense of security with which he was able to calm me down, and after quickly treating the patient, my husband was admitted to the National Accident Institute. He is still a first-year rescue officer, that’s all we know about him. Unfortunately, we don’t know his name. This time too, we would like to make him feel that it is worth doing, because there is a great need for young people with this attitude. Please translate our big thanks to both of them, because the driver did not speed on the extremely bad roads, but calmly and nicely took the accident victim, did not let him shake, and carefully chose the direction of travel. In short, empathy worked at a high level for both people. Yours sincerely, István Ercsényi
